Remove background noise from your Airtime Recorder video

Yes, you can remove background noise from a recording after you've made it. Turn on Enhanced Studio in the video editor's Audio pane. It removes background noise, isolates your voice and evens out the sound levels. If sound from your computer drowns out your voice, turn on Ducking in the same pane.

  1. Open the video editor: Open your video and click Edit video.
  2. Open Audio: Click Audio on the right-hand side of the editor.

  3. Turn on Enhanced Studio: Under Effects, turn on the Enhanced Studio switch (noise removal, voice isolation, EQ leveling). The preview updates so you can hear the result.
  4. Save your changes: Click Save changes in the top right corner.

Once saved, the cleaned-up audio is what people hear when they watch your video, and what you get when you download it.

Make your voice stand out with Ducking

If music, a video or other sound from your computer drowns out your voice, turn on the Ducking switch in the same Audio pane. It keeps your microphone in front and lowers your computer's sound while you speak. Click Save changes to keep it.

  • Ducking needs a recording that has both your microphone and your computer's sound. Otherwise it is greyed out, with the note "Needs both camera and screen audio".
  • You can use Ducking and Enhanced Studio together.
  • After you turn Ducking on, Airtime mixes your audio. The pane shows the progress, for example Mixing your audio…. The switches can't be changed until it's done.

Why is Enhanced Studio greyed out?

If it shows the note "Not available for this preview", enhanced audio isn't ready for this recording. This can happen with older recordings, or while a new recording's enhanced audio is still being prepared. Reload the editor a little later to check again.

Will this change my original recording?

No. You can come back to the Audio pane at any time, turn Enhanced Studio off and save again to return to the original sound.

To change the volume of your microphone or your computer's sound, or to mute one of them, see Apply Audio Effects in Airtime Recorder.

💡 Tip: Enhanced Studio cleans up noise, but a quiet room and a good microphone still give the best result. See How can I get better audio in my Airtime Recorder recordings?
