The Layout pane controls where your camera and screen sit in the video. You can use one layout for the whole video, or give each part its own layout. You can change all of this after you record.
Open the Layout pane
- Open your video in the editor.
- Click Layout in the toolbar on the right.
You can also click a part in the Scenes row of the timeline. The Layout pane opens on that part.
The pane shows the layouts for the format you are editing, for example Landscape 16:9. Layout changes apply to that format only. Parts, cuts and text are shared by all formats.
Whole video or parts
A video has one or more parts. A part is a stretch of the video with its own layout.
- With one part, the pane says Whole video. The layout you pick applies to the entire video.
- With several parts, the pane lists each part with its start time and layout.
Pick a layout for a part
- Click a part in the list.
- Choose a layout:
- Screen + camera — your screen with your camera on top of it.
- Screen only — your screen, with no camera.
- Camera only — your camera, with no screen.
- All layouts — the full list of layouts, including layouts with titles and text.
Pick a layout and the preview changes at once. Click Save changes at the top when you are happy with it.
Use one layout for the whole video
You can have the same layout everywhere.
- Click Use one layout at the top of the pane. Airtime asks you to confirm. It keeps the layout at the playhead and merges all parts into one.
- Or open a part and click Use this layout for whole video.
Split a video into parts
- Move the playhead to where you want a new part to start.
- Click Split at followed by the time, at the bottom of the part list.
- Pick a layout for the new part.
Both halves keep the layout of the part you split. Change either one afterwards.
Merge a part into its neighbour
- Click the part you want to remove.
- Click Remove — merge with neighbor.
The part disappears and a neighbouring part covers its time. Your video does not get shorter.
Move the camera, screen and text
Each layout has a default place for the camera, the screen and any text. You can change these for one part.
- Move your mouse over the preview and click Edit layout in the top right corner.
- Click the camera, the screen or a text box in the preview.
- Drag it to move it. Drag its edges to resize it.
- Click Done when you finish.
When you click the camera, a toolbar appears above the preview. It has these options:
- Shape — change the shape of the camera, for example rectangle.
- Crop — show less of the camera picture.
- Background — change what shows behind you.
- Reset — go back to the layout's default.
- Hide camera — remove the camera from this part.
Your changes apply to the part you are on. Other parts keep their own settings.
Hide your camera after recording
You can hide your camera even if it was on while you recorded. The recording itself does not change. You can show the camera again at any time.
For one part:
- Click the part in the Layout pane.
- Choose Screen only.
Or click Edit layout, click the camera, and click Hide camera.
For the whole video:
- Click a part and choose Screen only.
- Click Use this layout for whole video.
The pane then says Whole video and No camera in this part.
To bring the camera back, click Show camera in the pane. You can also choose Screen + camera.
