You can add videos to your Airtime Creator slides and play them on a live video call. To let your audience hear a video's sound, share your computer's audio in your video call app. You can do this in one of two ways:
- Share computer audio only: your audience keeps seeing you through the Airtime camera and hears the video's sound.
- Share the Broadcast window with sound: your audience sees your Airtime stage as a screen share and hears the video's sound.
Add a video to a slide
- Open your presentation in Airtime Creator and select a slide.
- If the slide is blank, select a content type in the top toolbar. If the slide has a content placeholder, click the placeholder and select Replace.
- Drag and drop a video file onto the slide, or click to browse your computer. You can also pick a video you've added before from the Media Library.
- Click the video on the slide to open its settings in the side panel. Turn on Autoplay to start the video when you move to the slide, or Loop to repeat it.
To play or pause the video during your presentation, use the playback controls on the video.
Control a video's volume
Your audience hears a video at the volume it plays on your computer. Set it in any of these places:
- On the video: click the volume icon in the video's playback controls and drag the slider.
- In the side panel: click the video, then drag the volume slider. Select Mute to silence the video completely.
- For all slides: click the volume icon in the bottom toolbar and drag the Slides slider. This sets the volume for every video in your presentation.
If a video has no audio track, its volume and mute controls don't appear.
Option 1: Share computer audio only (Zoom)
Use this option to keep the Airtime camera as your video while your audience hears the video's sound. Nothing on your screen is shared.
- Open Airtime Creator and select Airtime as your camera in Zoom.
- In the Zoom bottom toolbar, click Share.
- Click the More tab and select Computer audio. In some versions of Zoom, this is under Advanced and called Music or Computer Sound Only.
- Click Share.
- Present as usual. When you play a video on a slide, your audience hears it.
To stop sharing audio, click Stop Share in the Zoom toolbar.
Tip: Click the arrow next to Computer audio to choose stereo or mono. Sharing computer audio needs the Zoom desktop app. It isn't available in Zoom in a web browser.
Option 2: Share the Broadcast window with sound
Use this option to show your Airtime stage as a screen share, with the video's sound. Screen shares usually look sharper than a camera feed, so this also suits slides with small text.
- Open the Broadcast window:
- Mac: in the menu bar, go to Window > Show Broadcast Window.
- Windows: click the menu icon ☰ and select Show Broadcast Window.
- Double-click the top bar of the Broadcast window to make it as large as possible without going fullscreen.
- In the Zoom bottom toolbar, click Share.
- Select the Airtime - Broadcast window.
- Select Share sound, then click Share.
Keep presenting from the main Airtime Creator window or the speaker notes window. Your audience sees every change you make there.
Microsoft Teams and Google Meet
Teams and Google Meet don't have an audio-only share. Use Option 2 and share the Broadcast window with your computer's sound turned on.
Microsoft Teams (desktop app):
- Open the Broadcast window as described in Option 2.
- In the Teams meeting controls, click Share and turn on Include sound.
- Select the Airtime - Broadcast window.
On a Mac, Teams needs its audio driver to share sound. If Teams prompts you, install it and restart your computer. On Windows, make sure Teams and your computer use the same speaker. Learn more from Microsoft
Google Meet (Chrome):
- Open the Broadcast window as described in Option 2.
- In Google Meet, click Present now and choose A window.
- Turn on the option to share your device's audio. It's off each time you present.
- Select the Airtime - Broadcast window.
Sharing device audio from a window needs Chrome 142 or later, on macOS 14.2 or later or Windows 11. Learn more from Google
If your audience can't hear the video when you share the Broadcast window, share your entire screen with sound instead.
Troubleshooting
Your audience can't hear the video
- Check that you're sharing computer audio, or that you turned on sound when you shared the Broadcast window. Selecting Airtime as your camera doesn't share sound.
- Don't select Airtime as your microphone. Airtime doesn't provide a microphone.
- Click the video and check that Mute isn't selected and the volume slider isn't at zero.
- Turn off or lower noise suppression in your video call app's audio settings. Noise suppression can remove music and video sound because it treats them as background noise.
Your audience hears the video twice, or hears an echo
Your microphone is picking up the video's sound from your speakers. Wear headphones while you present.
The video has no volume controls
The video file has no audio track. Add a version of the video that includes sound.
