Your Airtime presentation slides or background may sometimes appear blurry or not appear at all on your video calls. Learn why this may happen and how to make your slides display in the highest possible resolution.

Turn off background blur or virtual backgrounds
Some video conferencing tools have background blur effects or virtual backgrounds which can interfere with Airtime.
- Open Zoom and start or join a meeting.
- In the bottom toolbar, click
next to Video.
- Turn off Blur my background.
To turn off virtual backgrounds in Zoom:
- Open Zoom and start or join a meeting.
- In the bottom toolbar, click
next to Video and select Adjust background & effects.
- In the window that appears, select None.
- Open Google Meet and start or join a meeting.
- In the bottom toolbar, click the More icon ⋮ and select Apply visual effects.
- In the Blur and personal backgrounds section, make sure none of the options are selected.
- Open Microsoft Teams and start or join a meeting.
- In the top toolbar, click
next to Camera.
- In the Backgrounds section, select None.
- Make sure that Soft focus is turned off.
Turn off macOS video effects
The Portrait and Background video effects on Mac blur or replace everything behind you, and on a call with Airtime that includes your slides. macOS keeps separate effect settings for each app that uses your camera, so you need to turn these effects off for your video conferencing app, not just for Airtime.
Airtime sends your slides and video to your call through the Airtime virtual camera. Effects set for Zoom, Teams or your browser are applied to everything Airtime sends, including your slides. Effects set for Airtime only change your camera before your slides are added. Other effects, such as Studio Light, can stay on.
- Join a call in your video conferencing tool, with Airtime selected as your camera.
- In the Mac menu bar, click the Video icon
. - At the top of the menu, click the tab for your video conferencing app. For example, choose Zoom or Microsoft Teams. If you use Google Meet or Teams in a browser, choose the browser's tab, such as Google Chrome. A tab only appears for apps that are using a camera right now.
- Turn off Portrait and Background. An effect is on when its icon is green.
Use the Broadcast window
If your slides still look blurry, your video conferencing tool may be lowering your video's resolution because of a slow or unstable connection. In that case, share Airtime's Broadcast window as a screen share instead.
- In Airtime Creator on Mac, go to Window > Show Broadcast Window. This will open your Airtime stage in a new window.
In Airtime Creator on Windows, click the menu icon ☰ and select Show Broadcast Window. This will open your Airtime stage in a new window.
- Double-click the top bar of the Broadcast window to maximize it without making it fullscreen. This will ensure your video conferencing tool has the highest resolution window to share with your audience.
- Share your screen in your video conferencing tool:
- In Zoom, click the Share button in the bottom toolbar.
- In Google Meet, click the Present now icon in the bottom toolbar.
- In Microsoft Teams, click the Share button in the top toolbar.
- Select the Airtime - Broadcast window. This will automatically set your audience's screens to Speaker View and maximize bandwidth for a smooth and crisp presentation.
- To control your presentation and advance slides, use the main Airtime Creator window or the speaker notes window.
Turn on high-definition video
Some video conferencing tools allow users to turn on high-definition video for webcams, which can improve video quality on calls.
Additional tips
- If you're sharing another application as a slide in Airtime Creator, make sure that the application is as large as your desktop without entering fullscreen and creating another desktop.
- We recommend 16:9 slides to be 1920 x 1080 pixels and 1:1 slides to be 2000 x 2000 pixels.
